With the holidays here, many of us or our loved ones getting into the spirit with baking lots of goodies. Candies, cookies, donuts, muffins and cupcakes are some of my favorite to make with my kids.
Making cupcakes and muffins can be a bit of a balancing act though. We use to get those paper cup liners to make them in, but it took a good part of the muffin or cupcake with it when it was removed. After doing all that hard work, to me, my banking products are works of art, so it can be a bit frustrating when this happens.
I have heard a lot of hype about using silicone baking cups. Everyone that has used them, has had nothing but great things to say about them. Out of curiosity, I needed to try them to see what all the fuss was about.
I put them in my muffin pan like I have done in the past with my paper liners. They fit very nicely into the designated areas. Something that I found pretty neat with this product, is that they are so colorful. The package comes in a package of 24 but the colors are purple, green, yellow, and pink. Very bright pastel colors. The silicone cups have a nice thickness of silicone. I filled up my cups like I normally would have when making my cupcakes and popped it into the oven. I did no temperature changes to my oven and didn’t add in any baking time in account for using this product.
Once my goodies were finished, I removed the muffin pan out of the over and let them cool for a little bit. Once my cupcakes were nice and cooled, to remove the silicone baking cup, I just simply took my muffin and turned it upside down. It popped out easily, with little to effort on my part. My cupcakes rose beautifully and they were cooked all the way through.
I really liked this product. I think it was a wonderful idea to save waste and to be able to take the work out of baking. Washing them was very easy. Unfortunately, be careful cooking anything dark though, like chocolate cake. If you do that, that you will probably expect what I have found, they stain pretty easily. I mean not too much, but there was some there. I was unable to get the stains out of the select few cups, however, Either way, I am not worried so much about the look, the product is what I look for the most. They seem to last a a and are very durable. This is sure to be on of your favorite products.
