The Barenstain Bears’ Please & Thank You!

I am always looking for books to help instill good values for my little guy. Ones that are entertaining and offer him something to look at and keep his attention. I have found one that not only is colorful and entertaining, but teaches manners.

The Barenstain Bears books were something we all grew up reading. It taught us so many wonderful things and there was even a television cartoon with them. As we all grew up, most of us have forgotten about them until we see an old book. The cherished bear family is coming to a new generation of toddler and preschool readers.

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Barenstain Bear books in 1962 and the Bear family celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012. Hewre the charming and lovable Bear family is once again introducing children to the typical issues and questions that they face everyday.

In the new book, Please & Thank You, little readers are introduced to the importance of manners through gentle reminders given to Brother, Sister, and Honey as they wait for their milk and cookies. The short story and well-loved characters provide toddlers a perfect introduction to valuable life lessons and routines. After reading this to my little one, I have noticed many more please and thank yous.

Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike carries on his parents’ love of creating Berenstain Bear stories from southeastern Pennsylvania, which looks a lot like bear country.

I am exicted to see the other books come out and to share them with my little one. He truly enjoyed reading this with me.
